For years my friend Issie (an art teacher) drew delightful, naive little figures, which have almost become her 'trademark'. In the process of finding new designs to digitize, I immediately remembered these drawings and the joyfulness that attracted me to them in the first place. Issie was keen to design a unique range of larger and smaller drawings which can be used in almost any combination.

The outstanding characteristics of Issie's Little Angels are their movement and uncomplicated nature. Hence, I deliberately tried to keep the designs informal, resulting in some of the outlines creating the impression of being incomplete or not edited properly. Subsequently, the original character of the designs was maintained.

Imagine any of the following: an angel encircled by flowers while playing with one of them, and yet another one catching one of the stars scattered around her. Imagine how impressed your own little angel would be to sleep under her quilt with a night theme on the one side and a day theme on the other. For my little boy, Frans, the journey to the land of dreams is even more enjoyable on his pillow case with the stuffed appliqué clouds…

These clouds have been digitized to allow you to appliqué a stuffed cloud. All you need to do is layer your piece of batting between two pieces of white fabric and place on your hooped fabric - as you would do with a normal appliqué design - before stitching starts. And if you want to do something more two-dimensional, these clouds could just as well be used for normal appliquéing - without using the stuffing.
